Jan-Henning holds a doctorate in Community law (his thesis was on the free circulation of persons within the European Union), and began working as a lawyer in 2004. He has been a member of the Cologne Bar and the Liège Bar since 2005. He became a partner in Matray, Matray & Hallet in 2015, and works out of our offices in Liège.

His preferred areas of practice are business law (commercial law, company law, and bankruptcy) and international contract law. In company law, Jan-Henning is active in the field of acquisitions/transfers of the ownership of companies, and in litigation (post-acquisition disputes, disputes among shareholders, administrator liability, etc). With his extensive experience in competition law, contract law, distribution law and German labour law, Jan-Henning assists his clients in negotiating and drafting business contracts (particularly turnkey industrial facilities and production lines), distribution contracts (franchising, dealership, agency, etc) and labour contracts (employees and management), and in related litigation.

His working languages are German, French, English and Spanish.
